The Vernon Lawn Bowling Club hosted the

Interior Lawn Bowling Associations (ILBA) Fall - “Triples, Singles & Novice Pairs” Tournament

the weekend of August 28th - 30th, 2009.

Tournament Director, Jack Andersen, was elated with the number of entries that registeref for play this year!

The tournament opened with “Triples Play”.

Brian McHugh (S) along with Terry McHugh and Harold Berg of the Vernon LBC took 1st Place.

In 2nd Place was the team from the Kelowna LBC, comprised of Connor McGowan (S), Byron Nate & Mervin Watson.

The Vernon LBC’s teams of Frank Anderson (S), Jim Burns & Doris Adamoski along with

Bill Aldag (S), Eileen Crawford & Don Wiggans “tied” for 3rd Place.

"Singles Play" was won by Alex Bell of the Kamloops Riverside LBC with

Connor McGowan and Gil McGarva of the Kelowna LBC taking 2nd and 3rd Place respectively.

The highlight of the weekend was the “Novice Pairs“ event!

The first game of the three started off with some trepidation, noting this was the first major event for the majority of the bowlers to compete in. However, the cheers and encouragement of the spectators quickly encouraged and boosted the confidence of the bowlers as play began..

Ultimately, the team of Peter McGowan (S) & Mervin Watson of the Kelowna LBC took 1st Place.

Following closely behind in 2nd Place was the team of Marilyn Bryant (S) & Helen Bettles of the Salmon Arm LBC

where Bill Luchak (S) and Danny Loo of the Vernon LBC took 3rd Place.

The greens witnessed a wonderful and exciting field of play over the course of the weekend,

where special thanks goes to our Umpires - Barbara Giesbrecht and Al Belliveau for their onsite experience and expertise!

As this event concludes Inter Club play for the season, the Executive and Members of the Vernon Lawn Bowling Club look forward to the Olympic Year - 2010, noting the VLBC hosts “Mat Bowling”, “Cribbage Play” and “Bridge Play” during the off season.

So as can be seen, the Vernon Lawn Bowling Club is a busy facility throughout the course of the year!

We’d love you to have you join us in one or more of the activities the Club offers, becoming a member of our "Family"!
